Today is the day that the kids have been waiting for. A trip to Disneyland! We transferred at Nagatacho and then sit all the way to Shinkiba. We'll be going to Maihama from there.
What are the signs that people are heading towards Disneyland? Guess... one of the clue is adult carrying teddy bears. Yup, that's right.. grown up and teddy bear. And at Shinkiba to Maihama, tonnes of people will squeeze with you in the train.
Maihama station platform sign
Disney items vending machine (oohh, this is near Disneyland alright!)
Maihama Station
Walk out of the station, and you'll see this sign:
We're going to Disneyland so, we turned right and walked on...
The Disney Resort Line is at DisneySea, so the kids said that they'll walk instead.
yup, right direction!
walk on.. that building there, is not the entrance.. it's just a souvenir shop
souvenir shop for you to spend spend spend!
Disney Resort bus
It's actually quite a long walk siah... But along the way, there are stuffs to look at. For example:
minnie (mini) sculpture on railings
Finally, we reached the entrance.. and ta dah! Disneyland, here we come!
right after the gate.. a beautiful garden
hello Mr Disney, nice to meet you
indoor main building for retail therapy, cafes etc
ballon man.. the balloon costs 900 yen each!
Disneyland is quite big and I need to utilize the $90 (5800 yen) entrance fee since I know that I'm not taking any rides. Explored the area from noon till evening. The areas and rides are divided into themes like Adventureland, Western, Space Age, etc.
So we decided to split with the kids and their mum going for rides, and me on exploration and photo taking journey.
got flora
got bird
this one prettier
got ducks! These are quite cute, they'll come if you feed them although I'm not sure if ppl are supposed to feed wildlife in here or not...
main retail building
The sky was very bright and blue! Very nice feeling indeed.
see the crowd
western theme
At some nook, found a Snow White Wishing Well...
wishing well.. got lots of coins dropped inside! hahaa but I think its more a couple-couple thingy
Nearby, there's a mini waterfall with statuetes of Snow White and her seven dwarfs.
got artsy feel?
If you're tired of walking.. no worries. There are benches around such as this one:
rest your tired bum here..
And nearby, its the castle...
beautiful right?
Disneyland is almost synonymous with kids. But apparently very young kids as well.. look at the evidence:
parking lot full
At Toon Town, is where you'll get to pose with the costumed characters.. can even get them to autograph your notepad.. if you brought it along...
Goofy's house
Space age rides:
Then I walked back to the main garden roundabout and saw people sitting by the roadside. So, being curious and a little tired.. I also sat down. And waited... So it was quickly deduced that we're waiting for.. the Parade! Yay! But then, some minders came and said something to the crowd.. in Japanese.. no English translation.. anyway, the official announcement came like 20 mins later to state that the Parade will start in half hours time.
Meanwhile, Disneyland road sweeper who looked very smart in their blue uniform comes by once in a while to sweep away crumbs. The way they sweep also very smart and cartoony.. very interesting!
keep body straight, then very quickly swish swish sweep
telling us something, but i can't understand :(
The girl seated next to me, was holding onto the Mickey Mouse waffles. I was peeking at it, and she wasn't eating it yet as she was waiting for her friend to return from buying some other food. So, I asked if I could take a picture of her waffles.
apparently the kids in front of me was also eyeing this.. and drooling. haha
After much waiting and anticipation, the parade starts! It's always preceeded by the dancers.
dancers in front
ladies first, so Minnie was first to appear!
Prince Charming and Cinderella
Pocahontas.. so pretty!
Apparently Stitch character is well loved by the Japanese kids!
I think my favourite was Monster Inc. and Toy Story.
Buzz Lightyear.. to infinity and beyond!
The finale for the Parade was Mickey Mouse.
Mickey waving goodbye
Sponsored by NTT Docomo, thanks!
Waching the Parade kinda transformed everyone back to their childhood.
Then I thought that I'd go to Odaiba, but as it was near to 3pm the weather started to get more windy and chilly. And feeling rather hungry as well. Lunch was just a piece of onigiri with mineral water.
Went to the Gazebo, and bought seafood gumbo. Think it was quite expensive for such a small cup of soup but at least it came with a chunk of baguette.
seafood gumbo
There's red bell peppers, tomato, lady's finger (to make the soup gooey) and shrimps. Warm soup to soothe the coldness.
indeed..
Slowly the sky turned a darker shade, and I thought I'd linger a little while more, to capture the moment.
byebye Tokyo Disneyland!
Decided to try the Disney Resort Line, so went towards DisneySea direction.
cute hor?
Then it'll go in a loop manner, and towards the Disney hotels. Really wanted to see Odaiba, so headed towards Yurikamone line. It's quite confusing this private line as the station was located at Level 2.
to Odaiba
Rainbow bridge was impressive but unfortunately, can't capture it properly on my meagre digital cam. So had to be contented with this tiny image.
rainbow bridge
As the it was really dark and freezing, and I was walking alone.. decided to head back to the hotel.
Dinner was definitely, not halal! Haha
trying Kirin for first time
nice taste
