We were supposed to gather at Marina Bay MRT at 10am but due to some mis-estimation, I reached there at about 930am... So with time to kill, I went to look look see see around the mrt.
skyscrappers and bicycles
The weather was very very hot! But I guessed that contributed to the vivid colors!
got bus to MBS.. hehe, but we're not going there today
colorful mailbox
ooh.. i see MBS!
After a few minutes, I quickly went back to shelter.. before I get burnt! The rest of the people came by 10am, and we went to the bus stop to take 402 to Marina South Pier. If not wrong, someone said the bus interval was half hour each.. so better not miss it.
Sean (organizer), gesturing to us to quickly come and buy the boat tickets!
Tickets cost $15 for a round trip to St. John's and Kusu Island.
not our boat.. this one is Cheng Ho V (another type of cruise ship)
Our boat will only arrive at 11am. So time to take pictures...
Cheng Ho looks like this close-up
Riverboat Restaurant... LS(and ex-LS), remember this?
Soon, 11am came, and so did our boat ride. So off we went!
go go go

first deck seats looks like this
We chose the lower deck seating area.
quite warm and stuffy this place
view from our seats
ooh.. boat departing at 11.02am

A video of our boat ride:
After about 22 minutes, we reached St. John's island. The boat stops for 10 minutes, before continuing to Kusu Island.
St. John's Island Pier
some people went there to play water, or fishing etc
We finally reached Kusu Island around 12.08pm. Wow, one hour ride from Marina South Pier!
Kusu Island feels like a holiday resort.. well, without the resort of course because no one's suppose to stay overnight there. It feels commercialized.. and probably should, because if it's a tourist attraction, then it may generate extra revenue and provides more jobs!
resting areas
tourist.. and the temple behind
So far, I know people goes to Kusu to pray. There's the Da Bo Gong temple, and the Kusu Keramat. And because the next boat won't come till 2pm, we've got loads of time to spare.. So off we went exploring the small island.
nice looking temple
pavillions surrounding the temple
ooh.. pavillion cum turtle sanctuary was donated one..
wishing well... yes, we hope it wishes us well as well.. ;P
walking towards the temple with Cheng Ho V in the background
tortoises
about the temple
After we've done exploring the 'Da Bo Gong' temple, it's time to venture out and look at the sea! It's quite a happy feeling looking at the vastness of the sea.
a seat with a great view, picnic anyone? but definitely not around noon time! no shade!
With hot sun beating down at us, we took refuge inside the resting hut.
rest first, but look out for the lizards...
Next on the trail, the Kusu Kramat.. must climb steps one.. 100+ steps haha!
good to know the story behind
up up and away...
Some spots on the way up to Kusu Kramat is a bit slanted, so cowardly me needed to hold on to the railings, least I fall over! Haha! There are markings to show way up and way down. So when we came back down, we explored the other side of the island. Which looked the same as the previous side that we came from. Same view same view!
similar view, but from the other side of the island
the sea color looked different here
small waves breaking
lone fishing enthusiast
After resting some more (actually a lot more than we walked 'coz the weather too humid, so it made us quite lethargic), it was time to bid farewell to Kusu island.
So more pictures of tortoise before we leave...
round shell tortoise!
different species (but more commonly seen)
marble tortoise?
One last round of photo taking before we depart the island. View at the pier.
yup, think we found this
waiting for passengers
Kusu is under Sentosa management?
Finally reach back mainland at around 2.42pm. It was a long humid stuffy ride... but the trip was enjoyable!
just before we docked...
We finally sat down for lunch at just before 4pm.
satisfying
And that's the end to the Kusu island adventure!
