Sentosa Boardwalk, Sentosa Flowers, Resort World

Taking a cable car to Sentosa? A train ride from Vivo? How about try walking to Sentosa from Vivocity. Yes, now you can with the Sentosa Boardwalk which links the island to mainland.

look out for the boardwalk signage in Vivocity

Once you're out of Vivocity, you'd be able to see this:

Coincidentally, today was also the last day for Sentosa Flowers event, so we got to see flowers everwhere.

Actually, there are travelators along the way if you don't quite feel like walking all the way....

hop on to the travelator, travellers!

Went exploring the F&B areas (need to walk down some stairs), and saw this:

flowers lined up

And very quickly, we reached Sentosa. Visitors can use their EZ-Link card to enter via the turnstile entrance. After which, we saw RWS...

RWS balloon
this is like the MUST take picture when in RWS?

And because it is CNY, they have this humongous rabbit:

HUGE fortune rabbit

Inside RWS, there's this big candy shop and outside of it you can see candy 'trees'.

As it was lunch time, went to eat at Baits, which turned out to be.. Din Tai Fung. Faints. After lunch, went in search of the Sentosa Flowers, which was supposedly somewhere beyond the Merlion Plaza.

walk up to get to the flowers

Along the way, saw sculpted flowers to represent the Chinese zodiac signs:

chicken flowers
mouse and monkey (at far back)

Then, saw this:

'Le Penseur' aka The Thinker
Walked and walked and finally....

Many many visitors, and there were flowers everywhere. Was also approached to help other people take their pictures, twice. Hahaa!

After being out in the sun for some time, took refuge in the air-conditioned comfort of RWS.

pineapple tarts

most expensive pineapple tarts?

My sis bought a tub of pineapple tarts from her acquaintance, and it costs RM$30 per container. Super expensive for a small town produce. Probably has about, 35-45 pieces in it? Hahaha, of course, I wasted no time in sampling them. Quite nice, I'd say. Buttery fluffy pastry that crumbles easily in the mouth with soft pineapple jam that is not too sweet.

CNY Fireworks

Here's a video of fireworks happening in one night near my house:

3 at the same time in one night almost drove my sister's pet dog insane. The dog was shivering in fear and we had to bring her into the house for her to calm down!

CNY 1st Day

Our CNY first day usually starts off with a vegetarian breakfast. And this is a one pot Cantonese vegetarian dish. My sister will cook it during the night before, and so, we'll just need to reheat it before we eat it on CNY 1st day, to 开年 (open the year).

Cantonese vegetarian dish

The base sauce is the fermented beancurd (豆腐乳) and red fermented beancurd (南乳,which is similar to 豆腐乳 but bigger piece,  not so salty and more reddish/purplish in color). Ingredients must have gluten, taupok, black fungus, black moss, tang hoon and vege.

Yums!

And along the train journey, you might be seeing these:

kampung styled houses

At the causeway.

Certain parts of Johor was flooded due consecutive rain right before CNY, and today, saw the residue of that flood:

still water

the lighter colored leaves should be the mud residue when the water subsided..

When nature is calm, sometimes we get beautiful scenaries.

hoppity hop

It's the Year of the Rabbit! Woohooo~ May Happiness be Multiplied, And there be an Abundance of Joy, Good Health and Prosperity!

We had simple dishes for reunion dinner; roasted chicken, leek with fried tofu, steamed grouper fish and roasted pork. Then by about 9pm, we had to bring in Bobby, my sister's pet dog, into the house. She's a full grown adult dog (that looked abit like a wolf) but had the courage of a ... hahaa, mouse? She was trembling and whining from all the fireworks that were set off around the place where we stayed. We didn't light any crackers ourself, but enjoyed the free fireworks display from nearby houses.

After dinner, it was last minute cleaning up time. My mom washed the porch, while my bro took care of the kitchen floor and I mopped the living room area and rooms. My sis took care of the cooking for our next day breakfast, Cantonese vegetarian dish.

Happy Lunar New Year, peeps!
