Hort Park

Time for nature.

Here's a wiki link to Hort Park.

Spent about 1.5 hours or so at the park at a leisurely pace, taking photos and stuffs. There was a group of girls taking their graduation pic there as well. Other visitors are mostly families, or photography buffs.

Besides plants, there are other areas of interests as well.. eg. landscape.

It was drizzling slightly, so explored indoors.

After the sky had cleared a little, we ventured outdoors again.

23 hectares of land to explore...

such a big place, need an alternative mode of transportation besides walking...

Nice place to visit, if you're into horticulture.

Hort Park, Southern Ridges, Henderson Waves, Mt Faber Park... tis ain't no walk in the park

A friend suggested a visit to Hort Park. Haven't visited before, so why not. After all, I wouldn't miss any photo taking opportunities...

Me: "So how do we get there?"
YT: "Take bus #197 from Jurong East Interchange"
Me: "Ok."

So we went to JE, and took that particular bus. After 15 minutes...

Me: "You know where to stop... right?"
YT: "Should be..."
Me: "..."

Suddenly..

YT: "Let's stop at the next stop."
Me looks around and sees, "Queensway Shopping Centre".
Me: "I don't think there's any park nearby Queensway Shopping Centre...."

Anyway, we alighted somewhere near Queensway Shopping and Ikea, and had to walk to Hort Park... towards Hyderabad Road.. where ever that is...

But first, we had to climb overhead bridge and cross the road 'coz we were at the wrong side. At the bridge, I saw this:

Then we had to cut through some HDB blocks to get towards the other part of the highway. Passed by some old school shops which included a shop selling rattan furniture, some bakeries and some coffeeshops...

Past the HDB buildings, past the AIA building, across the road, walk and walk..

finally...

It's 10-15 minutes walk, if you happen to alight at where we alighted. Otherwise, here are the correct bus number that stops very near the park.

singapore mahjong

After undergoing practical lessons yesterday, here's a link to theoretical part of the game, Singapore style. In particularly, the scoring rules. Which to non-players like myself, is like a thousand of things to remember...

Confusing at first, the game is slowly understood from the very basic level. Thanks to the gang, for the allowance to make mistakes without too heavy a penalty!

insomnia

3.48am...
thought i went to bed at about 12+... did i sleep?
weather quite hot, isn't it?
tossing and turning, trying to drift back into... but its elusive
gave up.. and was waiting for the alarm to ring...
seemed like an eternity.. but no sound came..
except for the soft hum of the vehicles on the road...
no wonder.. 'coz its not quite the time to wake up... is it not?

made coffee.. coffee doesn't wake me up any further.. or does it?
i'm wide awake
but i think.. my brain is falling asleep

a walk in the park

Was feeling rather bored, so decided to explore Bottle Tree Park at Yishun. Always passes by this place by MRT, and it looked quite interesting. To get there, took the MRT to Khatib, and walk. The distance is about 10 - 15 mins.

Walking below the MRT track, I noticed that there are alot of doves! Perched high up at the lamp post, on the ground, and even flying above your head. Everywhere! Beware not to step on the s**t too.
