big breakfast

GSS breakfast, anyone? This week's coupon: Big Breakfast @$3 (save $1.95). My brother thinks it's worth it, so we had it for breakfast this morning. Hehe, not that I mind, no no. It's actually been ages since I had big breakfast.

breakfast to-go
muffins, egg, sausage and hashbrown

Hashbrown, as usual, was a little oily but some potato fix in the morning felt so good!~

Do you like the sausage patty? I've always thought that they tasted kind of weird (and I still do...).

Eggs, unsalted.

nice eggy
pepperized and ready to munch

And this was how I ate it, with jam.

kind of like having fanta grape in solid form, I think I'd prefer strawberry jam...

Didn't they use to have hotcakes in big breakfast set? Hmm.

running man

This is seriously funny stuff. The main MCs have nicknames and they are quite endearing. They're grouped into red and blue teams and usually, one is the attacking while the other needs to run away from attacking team while completing missions. Each completed mission earns them a running ball, and sometimes immunity card are handed out (with a prize of course!) in the beginning. Immunity against final penalty. At the end of the game, the running balls (the more you have, the better it is) are then placed into those lottery drawing type of machine where the names are drawn out. If the MC name is drawn out then he/she will not be penalized. Usual penalties are usually donning some weird/outrageous costume and be out in public buying/eating/drinking something.

The oldest of the casts seem to be Yu Jae Suk and Ji Suk Jin, the two big brothers of the show. Nickname for Jae Suk? Yoo-ruce Willis. Buahaha!

Then Kim Jong Kook's nickname? Sparta-kook! Wahahaa! But he's really intimidating in the game. Very strong looking and you wouldn't want him to be the one hunting you down!

scared of Sparta-kooks

Then there's Gary and Ji-hyo, whom makes an adorable couple.

JCube

Was at JCube, and went to see see the ice-skating rink.

Nowadays the ice-skating rink has its own ticketing system. There are a couple of timeslots to choose from, with each slot lasting 2 hours, I think.

Tteokbokki/Ddeokbokki 떡볶이

Tteokbokki (dokbokki) is a Korean rice cake snack commonly found at Pojangmacha (small tented streetside stalls in South Korea). Our local foodcourts have it as well but the one sold in the Kopitiam in Yew Tee, only has rice cakes, onions and nothing else. One plate for $4...The ones sold by Dongdaemun franchise found in shopping malls are also quite nice with fish cake slices and some vege, but rather spicy.

Thought of cooking this at home, so bought back the ingredients. Basic stuffs include rice cake (duh!), fish cake and gochujang (hot sauce paste made out of chili, glutinous rice, fermented soy beans and salt).

there are two types and this one is the milder version

Once the basic ingredients are there, then basically you can add anything else that you like to eat. Other ingredients included large onions, spring onions, vegetables, little bit of fish sauce and for that extra something in the soup, I added clams.

Wash, clean and cut up onions, vegetables and fish cakes.

Once everything is prepared, then it's time to start cooking!

one pot cooks all

Sauté the onions with the butter (I don't have oil for frying in my house.... hahaa). Then let it caramelised a little before pouring water into the pot. How much water? Hmmm, enough to cook the rest of the stuff? Hahaa, didn't really measure so just go with gut feel! =P

Then add 2 large tablespoon of gochujang and dissolve it into the bubbling water with the onions. Add in the vegetables and spring onions and cook till soft. Then add in the clams, fish cakes and rice cakes. Cook till rice cakes are softer but still chewy, or whichever your preference is. When it's almost ready, just add a dash of fish sauce for taste.

Pretty simple and straightforward.

jumpy's

My colleague brought me this from her Melbourne trip. Jumpy's are kangaroo shaped crisps snacks.

Jumpy's many flavours
ate this
cute?

Here's a profile shot of one lone roo:

It's really heavy on seasoning and kind of tasty but not particularly healthy, I guess? Not the usual crunchy, but somewhat hollow kind of crunch. Makes sense?

Hahaa, I am random.
