to a land far far away

Well... not quite far, actually. To Macau. The land of casinos and egg tarts. Gonna fly in a couple of hours time. Hope the weather is good, but someone said it'll be raining over there.

First time flying via Tiger Airways. Wonder how much does a cup of coffee costs in there....

intelligent liposuction, anyone?

I read with much interest about Intelligent Liposuction (I-Lipo) found on page 30 of The New Paper 24 July 2011.

"No needles, no pain NO MORE FAT CELLS"

With such captions screaming at us fat people, it sure captures attention. Don't you agree? Sounds promising. Just use a machine while you're comfortably lying down on bed, and your fats get zapped (broken down) into oils which can be then be expelled via perspiration, urine or stools. It promises zero downtime, which means you can get right back to work after the procedure. Sweet.

I suppose too much oils in our bloodstream before it gets expelled is also not too good, right? So maybe that's why it has to be done gradually over a period of a few sessions. The report says recommended eight sessions as minimum to obtain optimal results. It was also reported that the procedure costs around $2.4K.

A quick check on the website of the medical centre that offers the procedure (as per reported in The New Paper), showed only Smartlipo as the closest match to I-Lipo. Here's the website link. A quick read on the Smartlipo procedure on the website revealed that although it is less-invasive, there is still an entry point for the laser and though no stiches, it still requires surgical glue and plaster. The website also states that "it is advisable to avoid strenuous sports, hot showers for 10 days, or intense massage for 4 - 5 weeks." [http://www.orchardmedical.com.sg/smartlipo.htm]

Medical advancement in the cosmetic area gives us hope of the superficial kind, and it also reinforces the importance of having money.

so hot....

What kind weather are we experiencing nowadays? It's hot hot hot!

Recently had a chance to try the current craze, "Lao Ban Beancurd" as featured in 8-days this week.

nowadays hawker stalls also have their own FB page

smooth wobbly and sweet

Hmmm.... it's softer than normal beancurd, and this one was almond flavoured. Not overpowering strong almond taste but just a hint. Quite sweet. When I think of all the coffee-mate in it, it does feel sinful...

Nice but not something that I'd queue half-hour for. Fortunately, this tub was given to my colleague by her housing agent. Well... good things must share! Hahaa!

a night of waiting, eating and drinking

The group executed its July birthday celebrations yesterday. Dinner venue checked, cake checked and drinking venue, checked.

Was supposed to just pick up the cake and head straight to the dinner venue. But no.... Canele (@Robertson Walk) did not have our cake order! *gasp!*

There was also some confusion about the cake prices because their website prices were lower than store price. And when this discrepancy was brought up, the staff casually said that the website is outdated! Can you believe that?! For goodness sake, please update your website since you already know the price listed is outdated!

So, decided to just grab one cake (but not from the counter as counter pieces are per piece instead of per cake), so the staff had to go to their 'freezer' to get it. Waited for more than 10 minutes and still no cake appearing! My patience wore out, and asked the staff manning the cashier, "How much longer do I have to wait for the cake??" She said, "A few more seconds ma'am" Ya.. right.

When the cake finally materialized, the service staff had some problem keying it into the register to get the bill. The staff had some trouble using the POS (point of sale) system, as she kept on keying and rekeying the price for the cake.... -_-'''

Anyway, managed to bring the cake to Graze @ Martin Road, and they allowed us to keep the cake in their fridge while we have our dinner first. Nice place with efficient service crew. Had my first bubbly there.

a glass of veuve cliquot, cheers to July babies

The restaurant has a nice ambiance.

cosy setting

We ate, we drank and we sang (birthday song, that is).

After that, we headed to Helipad @ The Central. We went to 'dizzying' heights, but that's due to the winding ride up to its carpark.

looked sci-fi, but Red table is for smokers to dump their ciggy butts

We drank and we were merry. Cheers.

weird

Weird things are happening. Experienced Murphy's Law while in Brunei. Laptop started getting cranky ever since it was used for the Brunei presentation.

Today my home router decided to reset itself to factory setting. Had some difficulty trying to set back the settings for wireless. Lucky I have a network cable at homem otherwise I'd be cutting myself off from the connection when changing the settings...

Sianz. Uber sianz.

jabugo iberico, anyone

Pata negra (black leg, sounds eee!) or jamon iberico, is one pricey ham. Jabugo iberico is iberian pigs found in that territory (Jabugo).

Had a chance to try Iberico ham, procured from London. You can say, imported goods. Haha!

vacumn packed

Heard that this particular ham has been cured for at least 3 months. Wanted to eat it with sherry or port, but then can't afford the wine. Someone suggested to eat it just like that, but I would think otherwise. It'll be a tad too salty, no?

And restaurants always have parma ham with melon, so decided to do something similar. I didn't have melon at home, so make do with a red apple.

iberico with apples

Then decided to pair one with toasted bread with melted cheese.

toasted bread, melted cheese and iberico ham

Hmmm.. the iberico ham has quite strong flavours, although not extremely overpowering. It reminds me a little of the wax duck that Chinese people like to eat during CNY. Smells like that when you chew on it. The texture was a little tougher than I expected but not as salty as I initially thought it would be. Probably will taste great with Moscato!

nightmare

whoa.. what was that all about? Dreamt that I was alone at KL airport (should be a fictatious one since it doesn't resemble Subang nor KLIA), and was to fly off to somewhere else. There was a whole lot of walking around to get to the plane. After some time, it seemed that I was getting nowhere. So I asked the people around me how to get to Budget Terminal. Apparently, no one knows. I looked at my watch and the time was 3pm, and the flight is taking off at 330pm or so. In a state of near panic, I ran and searched for airport officials, and everyone seemed too busy to help. But apparently that place got alot of taxis....

When I finally got their attention, the people seemed to be speaking alien language to me! They said must go to the "F___________" <-- I remembered this name while was still in my dream 'coz it was repeated to death but can't seem to recall it now... And then a lady suggested that I can take a taxi to that area and it's just 1 minute away, so I quickly asked her to get me a cab! But then, I asked her how to get to the departure when I reached whatever that place is, and she said something but I can't make out what she had said...

Then someone offered to bring me to that place instead, and I was sooo grateful! But we were walking at snail pace, and I repeated that the flight is at 330pm, but he just smiled and continued talking and walking leisurely... :(

Then I woke up, with all the feelings of anxiety, stress and panic...Kind of a desperate situation, and you feel helpless because there is nothing you can do, and no one can help you. Think this has to do with the impending trips...!

penny for your thoughts

We had an interesting session yesterday night, initiated by the only guy in the group, where everyone was to describe him/herself in 3 words. It was kind of tough to describe your chums when asked point blank, because it's not something that you would consciously think about, right? Like, I don't go analysing my friends and summarizing them in 3 words. Or maybe, everyone should start looking into that? Hmmm.

But the intention was useful. To know more about how others perceive us and how we perceive ourself and whether these two matches. We started off by describing ourselves in 3 words. In retrospect, is this how we viewed ourselves or rather, how we would like others to see us? Generally, I noticed that the words used in our own description of self rarely contains negative traits unless we ourselves think is obvious or, maybe we are just well-trained from school days to put in some pros n cons into our answers. Hahaa! Hey, exploring possibilities here.

Then, we have to describe the next person, and the next and so on until everyone gets a turn. It's like suddenly, you're being swarmed by 3 x 3 descriptive words that your friends think/feel characterises you. Kind of a situation that made me nervous. Being a person who cares about what others think of her, that was an apprehensive yet anticipated moment. It's like your report card being read out, in front of the whole class!

So what did my this group of close friends described me as? 3 words. "Temperamental, Stubborn/Defensive, Kind"

Haha, I think that was NOT what I was hoping for. Two traits on the negative range out of three. Time to do some serious reflection!

Now that the perceived image is somewhat not matching to the intended projected image, so how do I reconcile that, or is there a need to reconcile the differences?

There is a phrase from Shakespeare "As You Like It", and to quote a portion of it, "All the world's a stage, And all the men and women merely players: They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts."

Since we are acting out our parts in life, and there are many stages in life, we will come across as different permutations of characters and traits in all the different stages in life, in various contexts. Though, I believe, that there is a core that is consistent, and this will show no matter how hard the person tries to mask it. The subconscious of the human has a depth that remains largely unexplored, but some of this may rise to the surface every now and then. And this subconsciousness is continously formed through past experiences. [Carl Jung]

As I'm perceived as temperamental, does it affect the relationship? It could be tiresome to be in contact with someone temperamental. Or, on the other hand of the spectrum, it could also mean that this person is comfortable enough to show certain emotions without filtering it off first. Haha, or this could just be my self delusion. Maybe I just think too highly of myself. That does sound self-absorbed! Tsk tsk. Repent!

Ok. Awareness is the first step to any change. And change is a choice. And to make that choice, there are 5 points of consideration. But that itself, is another topic.

Till then, we just have to keep on exploring, living our lives and keep an open mind on the feedback.
