daiso goodie

Been having the new camera for a while now. Been wanting to put a layer of screen protector but couldn't find any till recently. Found one at Daiso ION...I think. Can't really remember.

$2 only
inside
ready for operation

Read the instructions or rather, just glanced at the graphics and proceeded confidently. I mean, how difficult can it be? It states, to peel off the film. So I did. Then became puzzled when the film didn't stick onto the screen before realizing that I tried to stick the wrong film! Scrambled to recover the sticky film which by now had been carelessly lying on the bed (and with the wrong side down!) and hence, some tiny thread or dust had stuck to a corner of the sticky film...Tsk tsk!

peel this off and discard this
Didn't want to waste the money so stuck it on anyways.

ok, so the handiwork wasn't top notch...

Underestimated the camera screen. Perhaps a 3.3 inch would be better to cover the entirety of the screen plus its sides?

thank yous

It's that time again. Another year to add to the counter. It has been a quiet year and glad to have family and friends, people that cares.

cake to mark the occassion

Was getting too comfortable in comfort zone, and this year decided to spruce it up somewhat. Finally, after so looooong......found a new job! WoOOohOOOo! Haha. Dear ex-colleagues, finally joining the alumni club. Am I the last member? Keke.

Ok, it's kind of intimidating actually. Nevertheless, let's try. =)

Thank you to all for your love and care.

forgetful...

Found myself out of ringgit on my first day in KL! And my SGD fared no better, with just $50 left. Hahaha....if not wrong, I think I took out some of the ringgit to place in another smaller bag but I didn't bring that to KL. Tsk tsk.

Hehe, needa live frugally for the next three days! Changed almost all the SGD to ringgit at the money changer so now have RM107 for the next 3 days to spend on food and transport.

Not too bad since hotel is providing breakfast. And tomorrow's transport to office has been settled. The rest, will have to depend on my colleague to fork out first. Hahah...

wishy-washy

What is the ultimate motivation to change? Thought it was the monetary factor. But can't be, since I'd be taking an immediate pay-cut. Then, why still want to change? Do I really want to change? What do I want? But then again, does it matter what I want?

The mind is at the logic versus feelings kind of crossroads. Even the logics, reasons and rhymes seem to be cancelling out each other.

Already taken the necessary steps, so the move is almost sure, pending fulfilment of certain criterias. Ethically, there shouldn't be any backing out now.

What am I giving up?
1. Freedom (ultimate kind)
2. A few hundreds of dollars a month
3. Good relationship (or maybe the relationship was existent only in my perception?)
4. The niche factor
5. Work related travel opportunities (byebye Beijing, byebye Philippines...)

What am I hoping to gain?
1. Acquisition of new skills
2. Better career prospects in the longer run
3. Change of scenary

Not quite convincing ya. Only three versus five.

But all those were just bullshit. Ultimately, the change was propelled by the fear of being unable to step out of comfort zone. The longer I am here, the harder it will be to get out. But why do I want to get out? Things weren't bad. It was just a tad unhealthy but otherwise, still beneficial.

Precisely because there were still benefits to be reaped that's making me wishy-washy. It's like there's a paved way but I'm now choosing to dig the ground again to lay the stones, seriously the hard way? Sounds really stupid, right?

If it's so difficult, then just stay. As long as you're happy. I know of at least one person who'd say this to me.

Of course, decisions have never been easy for me. But I'd like to stick with it, once decided.

minimum sum

Not surprisingly, the CPF min. sum has been raised. The amount now is $148K. I'm all for Medisave ceiling to be raised because $40K for medical is just not quite enough if you're not under any insurance.

Just last year, the CPF min. sum was at $139K. Assuming an increase of $10K per year, then probably by the time I reach retirement, *calculating using fingers etc*, maybe the minimum sum would be around $300K? Of course this is just fictional assumption. Min. sum is readjusted based on inflation, life expectancies and S'poreans rising expectations of their quality of life.

For annuity plans, an investment of $100K at age 55 would probably see a guaranteed monthly payout of about $500 for the next 25 years. So, probably if want to enjoy $2K per month payout, then possibly need to invest....$400K?

Hmm.. so if one would like to enjoy $2K per month quality of life, then perhaps the minimum sum would need to be at about half a million to sustain this expectation?
