Yesterday had an impromptu movie night. We watched final destination. How bleak is that? Morbid and depressing.
It's bad enough that people have to die... but those in the movie... sigh. Decapitated, maimed, burnt.. all possible horrible ways to die. What a movie.
Had an unpleasant day yesterday. Been having this naggy feeling due to some not so good turn of events recently. I've come to realise that I place quite high importance on how people think of me. Heh, signs of insecurities I suppose...
Well, hopefully today will be a better day.
Heading off to work in an hour time. Tons and tons of things to do.... 2 deadlines .. both on 1st March, so must finish by 28 Feb. Computing line is no fun I tell you...

guess i'll have to work on monday...
Well, day-dream is over and now back to reality. I aint no millionaire, haha! Only managed 2 numbers.. so no prize there. Anyway.. it was worth the try.
Yesterday, was company's dinner event (finally!) at No Signboard, the Stadium branch. I only ate at the Geylang branch before and the food was not bad but quite expensive (well, what do you expect? It's seafood after all!). So at around 5.45pm, we trudged out of office and hopped into Chet's car towards foood... yum yum...
Actually, based on past experience, we dared not expect too much. Previous dinners were held at Marina South and coffeeshop in Commenwealth (to eat fish head noodle)... so.. just no expectation at all. At around 6.30pm, after Boss gave his speech.. I felt giddy. Heh.. prob not from the speech but from staring too long at the moving waters that surrounds the restaurant. Does this mean that I'll likely to get seasick if I take a boat ride? Hmmm...
So the food came and of course, we had 'yee sang' as starters. Next came the appetisers that consist of 4-5 items. Next we had lobster salad, followed by sharkfin soup, oat prawns, steamed fish (small one), chicken dish (very small one), fried squid(?!! not auspicious to serve fried squid during company dinner bah,right?! ), fried kangkong and lastly fried rice. Then lastly, we had almond longan as desserts. So this is likely to be the most expensive and grand company dinner that we ever had in our 5 years in the company.
The food there is not bad but I felt not up to No Signboard Geylang's standard. I think Geylang is the original outlet. Anyhow, there were a lot of customers! ALOT! Because after our dinner, I can still see the long queue outside as the entire restaurant was fully packed! Hmm.. very likely their business will continue to be brisk as these are the last few days of CNY celebrations.. so people are actually having 'yee sang' fervently? Hehe, maybe.
Oooh.. after that when we were queueing for cab at City Hall... we managed to catch the fireworks! Wahh... nice! But the queue for cab there is horrible as we waited for like half hour before getting one.
Anyhow, as weekend is here, I'd like to wish you a good rest and a nice weekend!

It was just beginning to drizzle slightly, and when I looked up the sky... there it was ... a rainbow. I totally love rainbows! Yeah, do you?
It's just a wonderful feeling being able to see one.

TOTO, anyone?
Queues are forming all over Singapore as I type... the atmosphere is tensed but cheery kinda way. Why? 'Coz every CNY, there'll be the special ang bao draw for TOTO. It'll be dream come true if you ever get the first prize.. 10 million bucks.. imagine what you can do with it (daydreaming now...)
If ever win 10 million, here's what I'll do:
1. Keep 5 million inside bank (heheh, prob can keep in that Swiss bank.. so no one will know abt it...)
2. Buy a property for 0.5 million (that's how much it'll cost in S'pore for a 4 bedroom place..)
3. Give parents 150K each. Siblings 100K each.
4. Invest 2 million.
5. Donate 500K to charities.
6. Get a postgrad degree, that'll cost 50K.
7. Go for a holiday all over the world with a bunch of friends and their expenses all paid, and this will cost about 100K (prob just 2-3 places, and just 5-6 friends)
8. Open an eatery in Malaysia, so my sis can be the chef, and my mom the cashier. That'll need prob 500K.
The remaining ones will be kept for emergency use... Oops! How can I forget? Have to pay taxes, bah? So, it'll be used to pay IRS...
Muahahaaa.. still dreaming.... and yeah, good luck to you too. May we strike TOTO this year!

恭喜发财
Lunar New Year celebrations is almost 七七八八。。。fast, right? Now that it's February already, there'll be no more public hols for now... sianz ah!
How's the ang bao collection this year? Keke, paiseh to say, I'm still getting them too! Although most of it passed back to my mom liao. Of course on top of that, I gave them an ang bao each too, now that I'm already working.
Alot of my friends are either momma's or expecting their firstborn. I enjoy being wif kids... only if they dun poop so much. Played with Oreo last Sunday at SL's house. He's eight months old and quite hyper! Not afraid of the dog too. In fact, he cackles when he sees one! Waiting for LF's addition this March and CY's this June. It's raining babies!

goodbye 2005
Last day of the year. Wow. How does that feel? Pretty old I guess. So what did you do today? I went to my friend's house for a post-Christmas pre New Year gathering. Played with Oreo, their 6 months old baby boy. Cute cute cute! I can't resist little kids! Well, I do have a knack in making them cry but still, I loved them!
So we ate, drank and exchanged gifts and updates of each other. There were warmth in a rainy afternoon.
We started our course in 1995, so that meant we knew each other for like 10 years now? Wah, cliche as it sounds but time really flies! I'll attest to that.
So thank you my friends. And may you and your family have a blessed New Year!

out with the girls
Hmm.. after hibernating at home for six days, I finally ventured out to have lunch with the girls. By the girls, I meant Flo and Gin. Flo wanted to get a haircut. Actually Flo and Gin wanted to get haircuts but Gin said $39 is too expensive for a trim, so she opted out. While Flo decided to get this haircut from this guy featured in Her World magazine. So off she trotted to Heeren for her appointment at 1pm. I met up with Gin at 1.45pm because we thought Flo would have completed her haircut by then. So we hung around, shopped for a while until we couldn't wait no more and decided to drop by and see what's Flo's haircut is progressing...
So off we went to UrbanHair and we saw Chester (the guy featured in the mag). Of course dear Flo didn't see us as she was too busy fussing over her hair. Chester saw us though and he managed to grin at us. Must had been thinking how come got people so bo liao stand there and ogle at him. Anyway, we sensed that Flo may take a while, so off we went to Billy Bombers for our lunch. By the time the food arrived correctly ('coz the first time round, our cheese fries somehow turned into sprite!), it was about 2.15pm. So we ate, and drank and waited and ate somemore until it was about 3pm. Yeah.. so the haircut took that many hours to complete. Amazing isn't it?!
After Flo finished her lunch, it was about 4pm. So off we shopped somemore around Heeren. We spent about 30 mins at this shop called Xi. Quite cool stuffs inside. Flo wanted to go Taka but it was raining, so we idled somemore in Heeren until it was about 5pm. At Taka we looked at some Coach handbags, walked somemore and went down to basement to get some Takopachi before Gin heads home. It was 6pm when we decided to get to the MRT. Alas, when we were walking towards the MRT of course has to pass through Wisma Atria.. so off the girls went into the shops while I tried not to feel claustrophobic (due to the throngs of humans swimming around). By the time we really get to the MRT, it was 6.25pm. The peak of human traffic! Argh!
Yeah, I sulked 'coz I hate places with lots of humans squeezing together. Just not my cup of tea.
Anyway, that's my afternoon with the girls. How was yours? Hope you had a nice day too.

ktv
I'm a KTV freak! (all freak out, yea!)
Don't know why, but I lurrrrve KTV! Probably its 'coz I have a thick skin and dun care if others find my singing horrible (actually not that bad also..).
I can sing for hours... on my own. Sad hor? Yalor.. sometimes I feel quite awkward entering the KTV alone. Like no friends to jio... hmm.. But I dun care! Alone means I can sing whatever, whenever I want! How bad also never mind!
I like to sing S.H.E's songs... but need to find Selina and Hebe's voice... 'coz mine is low. Hehe... Currently dun have kaki.. either they don't know the song or they don't know their cue.. kekeke (got 1 fren I always psycho her to sing Selina and Hebe's part.. bo bian, coz only have 2 mic... think she feels quite stressed whenever I do such thing! ;P )
So if you're interested, come on.. let's sing!

zodiac sign
Did you know I had always believe in the zodiac sign? Or probably I was looking for signs to believe in.. Hmm...
Anyway, here's an interesting excerpt on Taureans (got it from one of the many astrological sites):
Those in italics is what I found are quite true! I always wait for the green man to come on the traffic light before I crosses the road. Yeah, I admit.. I am egoistical at times. Pride is my downfall. And yes, I can be your good friend. But if you ever betray my trust... that's it. Once is enough! I hate being confrontational, so you'd find me grumbling behind.. and I think that's also quite bad bah...Yeah, my friends will tell you that most of the time they find me good humored and mild natured. But those who has seen my temper.. quite shocking too. Hehe, recently I found out I had an eye for good stuffs. Meaning, when I can easily pick something that suits you. Be it clothes or other stuffs that I think you may like. But the funniest thing is, that eye doesn't work for myself. Therefore, you'd find me in the most mismatched outfit! Sigh.
Here are somemore on the work side:
So bosses, you see.. we Taureans don't mind routine work (But we do need changes once in a while.. but nothing too drastic). Too much, you'd find us packing... I think. Sometimes beggars can't be choosers (I'm saying for myself)
Summary:
So Taureans out there, do you feel likewise? Or is it just me?
Interesting nuggets (same birthdate as me!):
Other famous Taureans includes Florence Nightingale, Sigmund Freud, Orson Wells, Guglielmo Marconi amongst others! Hurray!
Anyway, here's an interesting excerpt on Taureans (got it from one of the many astrological sites):
Traditional
Taurus Traits
Patient and reliable
Warmhearted and loving
Persistent and determined
Placid and security loving
On the dark side....
Jealous and possessive
Resentful and inflexible
Self-indulgent and greedy
The Taurean's characteristics are solidity, practicality, extreme determination and strength of will - no one will ever drive them, but they will willingly and loyally follow a leader they trust. They are stable, balanced, conservative good, law-abiding citizens and lovers of peace, possessing all the best qualities of the bourgeoisie. As they have a sense of material values and physical possessions, respect for property and a horror of falling into debt, they will do everything in their power to maintain the security of the status quo and be somewhat hostile to change.
Mentally, they are keen-witted and practical more often than intellectual, but apt to become fixed in their opinions through their preference for following accepted and reliable patterns of experience. Their character is generally dependable, steadfast, prudent, just, firm and unshaken in the face of difficulties. Their vices arise from their virtues, going to extremes on occasion,such as sometimes being too slavish to the conventions they admire.
On rare occasions a Taurean may be obstinately and exasperatingly self-righteous, unoriginal, rigid, ultraconservative, argumentative, querulous bores, stuck in a self-centered rut. They may develop a brooding resentment through nursing a series of injuries received and, whether their characters are positive or negative, they need someone to stroke their egos with a frequent, "Well Done!" Most Taureans are not this extreme though.
They are faithful and generous friends with a great capacity for affection, but rarely make friends with anyone outside their social rank, to which they are ordinarily excessively faithful. In the main, they are gentle, even tempered, good natured, modest and slow to anger, disliking quarreling and avoiding ill-feeling. If they are provoked, however, they can explode into violent outbursts of ferocious anger in which they seem to lose all self-control. Equally unexpected are their occasional sallies into humor and exhibitions of fun.
Although their physical appearance may belie it, they have a strong aesthetic taste, enjoying art, for which they may have a talent, beauty (recoiling from anything sordid or ugly) and music. They may have a strong, sometimes unconventional, religious faith. Allied to their taste for all things beautiful is a love for the good things of life pleasure, comfort, luxury and good food and wine and they may have to resist the temptation to over indulgence, leading to drunkenness, gross sensuality, and covetousness.
Be it clothes or other stuffs that I think you may like. But the funniest thing is, that eye doesn't work for myself. Therefore, you'd find me in the most mismatched outfit! Sigh.
Here are somemore on the work side:
In their work, Taureans are industrious and good craftspeople, and are not afraid of getting their hands dirty. They are reliable, practical, methodical and ambitious, within a framework of obedience to superiors. They are at their best in routine positions of trust and responsibility, where there is little need of urgency and even less risk of change, and a pension at the end. Yet they are creative and good founders of enterprises where the rewards of their productiveness come from their own work and not that of others.
So bosses, you see.. we Taureans don't mind routine work (But we do need changes once in a while.. but nothing too drastic). Too much, you'd find us packing... I think. Sometimes beggars can't be choosers (I'm saying for myself)
Summary:
LIKES
* Stability
* Being Attracted
* Things Natural
* Time to Ponder
* Comfort and Pleasure
DISLIKES
* Disruption
* Being pushed too hard
* Synthetic or "man made" things
* Being rushed
* Being indoors

Shrimp Wantons...
Do you know that advertisement where Chew Chor Meng advocates the shrimp wantons with real shrimps inside? Well, I bought a box of that.. $3.60 from NTUC. Try mah, or else who knows whether there're real shrimps inside, correct bo?
Well, I read the instructions pretty well I think.. First, put the frozen wantons inside hot water for 15 seconds. Yeah, no need to thaw. Just like the glutinous rice ball (packet form) that I made earlier. Just dump the frozen balls inside boiling water and boil till it floats. But that got nothing to do with our shrimps of course.
Well, after that I poured away the water and put in another batch for the soup.Hmm.. the package never mention whether to use the same water or not... but anyway, that's what I did. Then boil the soup and dump in the wanton for another 2-3 minutes.
When it was done, I could actually see the shrimp inside.. Not bad, looks quite chunky. There were 12 wantons inside the package. So one is about $0.30? Is that ex? Hmm... I don't know.. usually I buy 'shui gao' for $2.50 per bowl which comes with 6 moderate sized shui gao's and some vege. The wantons here are quite small. And how about the taste? I would say pepperish! There's no other meat except the shrimp and when you bite into it, you could taste pepper and more pepper. Hmm.. overall, it tasted okay, but I've got bits of the wanton that was too thick, so that tasted floury.
Overall, okay, can buy and it's good for lazy people like me.

好糗。。。
