happiness is U-shaped

Apparently middle-aged person are grumpiest. Assuming a life-span of 66 years old, then at 33 that person is grumpiest. If assuming life-span of 100, then at 55 that person is grumpiest? At my age, I do find myself grumpy most of the time. Hence, it means I have reached middle-aged!

Somehow it makes sense. Childhood are supposedly happiest. Then came the turbulent teenage years. Then adulthood was accompanied by responsibilities but still happy because earning money and have a sense of belonging. Then as we aged, we try to find that ever elusive thing called love. Some might find it, and luckier ones will have it reciprocated. Some opt for practicality and companionship. Some not so lucky ones will question about the meaning of life.

Then, as we become more and more mature, and when our thoughts and emotions no longer rages like Niagara falls, perhaps we'll feel more at peace (or probably given up the hope of searching)... with the world, and ourself.

The above are just some thoughts, unrelated to the studies.
